The Bible

The inspired Word of God, has endured every kind of onslaught the enemy of our souls could throw at it. He has tried but failed to discredit the writings that are true to history in every detail. Why is the battle against this ancient manuscript so intense? Why have countless men willingly sacrificed their lives because of it? Why does it prick man’s conscience and inspire such polarized controversy as no other book ever has?
These are the very words of The Living God, penned by man but directed and inspired by Himself. It is self described as “living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.”
Hebrews 4:12-13
In honoring his words, we honor He who wrote them. In committing ourselves to their authority over our lives, it’s incumbent on us to accurately interpret their intended messages. We are given a stern warning in it’s last chapter.
“If anyone adds to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book, and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God will take away his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.”
Revelation 22:18-19
Read it often, memorize it, recite it publicly, internalize the essence of it, aspire to live by it’s edicts. Never try not obeying it by feeble arguments of your own wisdom. It’s perfectly at home with our current culture, and relevant to every situation without over contextualizing it’s content. It says what it means, and means what it says. The issue is always, are we willing to bend our will and obey it?
