Tired of sin

Ever feel tired of constantly battling with sin? I have. I’ve felt like the same old problems keep cropping up time and time again. Will the devil ever completely leave us alone so that sin doesn’t tempt us? I take comfort in knowing that Jesus himself was tempted by the devil. The temptation itself is not sin but giving into it is. Have you ever thought nobody is tempted in this area as much as me? When Jesus was tempted He always quoted scripture. Like this one from 1Cor.10:13, No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.
Threats don’t work with someone who’s got nothing to lose.
When there’s something of the sin that you haven’t given up to Jesus, it’s a point of entry for the devil to tempt us in. When we give it all over to Jesus, we’re like a dead man. Dead to that sin.
Another way I found success in dealing with sin was to get my mind off my own problems and be outward focused. Helping someone else deal with their issues. Strangely, when I do, I don’t think about mine as much.
In 1peter 4 it says “Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking, for whoever has suffered in the flesh has ceased from sin.”
A few times in my life I’ve experienced this scripture’s reality. Sharing the gospel and suffering for it by being ridiculed and maligned because I spoke the truth. In this situation, the last thing you’re thinking about is gratifying the flesh.
Jesus said “he that hungers and thirsts after righteousness will be filled.”
Lord, make it my desire to be righteous before you. Help me to turn my thoughts off myself and be available for others. There are so many hurting people that need your healing power. Make me an channel of your peace.
